How can we turn complex HUMS data into actionable maintenance insights?
Modern aircraft and defense systems generate vast amounts of information through Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS). These analytics are key for preventive maintenance. However, isolating and analyzing the right data at the right time in order to use it effectively represented a core challenge for our customer.
The customer needed a solution that could consolidate and interpret HUMS data efficiently. The aim was to transform raw sensor information into clear, actionable maintenance tasks that fit directly into daily operations. This would help to reduce unplanned downtime, improve asset readiness, and make smarter decisions based on early indicators and trends.
The Solution
HUMS Data Integration & Analytics System
Together with our customer, Empact developed a Windows-based system that integrates HUMS data with existing maintenance and analytics platforms. The tool processes large data sets, identifies developing issues, and automatically recommends preventive actions based on defined trends and thresholds.
By connecting directly to operational systems, the solution ensures that analytics do not remain isolated but actively support planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance tasks. Moreover, it was important for us that the interface was designed to be intuitive for both engineers and maintainers, making complex data accessible, understandable, and usable in day-to-day sustainment work.

The solution enabled the customer’s engineering and maintenance teams to take proactive action. By leveraging data insights, component failures could be prevented and asset life extend. Overall, maintenance planning became more accurate, downtime was reduced, and resources could be deployed more effectively.
